Let's Do Launch!

Hello!  Welcome to my first blog post from Guest Chef!

Guest Chef is officially launched and I couldn't be more excited. My new project is designed to bring great food to people's tables. Whether I prepare wholesome meals for your week, or host a cooking demonstration for you and your friends on a Friday night, or offer you one-on-one cooking instructions, great tasting, real food will always be the focus.
My love for food doesn't end when the meals are made or the parties finished. I love food all day every day and it impacts nearly everything I do in life, which is why this blog is going to be the perfect outlet for things I do professionally and things I do personally.

First of all, I am constantly working on new recipes. So I'll be able to share great tasting ideas with you here, like this Coconut-Red Curry marinated Chicken that I tossed on the grill last week. (Recipe post will follow soon). Not only insanely good, but also an unexpected dish for those summery backyard feasts. Hey, what can I say? I like to surprise people.

Secondly, I love dining out at great restaurants, especially new places. After living in the New York area and having access to so many amazing Chef's and culinary trends, I consider it a huge blessing that Detroit's restaurant scene is exploding.  I started a Dinner Club for the sole purpose of trying all the great places that are popping up. In less than a year, we've hit these hot-spots: Wright & Company, Market North End, Selden Standard, Gold Cash Gold, Johnny Noodle King, Republic, La Feria, Jolly Pumpkin and Chartreuse. Plus, (in my free time) Dime Store, Kuzzo's Chicken and Waffles, Craft Work, the Root and a pop-up dinner catered by Stockyard. I told you, I love restaurants! The "Must-Eat-At" list just keeps growing. In future blogs posts I'll be sure to tell you all about my dining experiences so you can know where to go, too.

Finally, I love real food and getting to know Detroit, so I do as much as I can to support local growers, vendors and businesses and I spend time exploring the Detroit Metro Area. I grew up in this area, but I moved away for 12 years after college. It goes without saying that things had changed drastically while I was away, but it seems the resurgence and regrowth has started to truly boom in the short three years that I've been back. It's undeniable that things are constantly changing and happening in and around Detroit and I want to be a part of that progress. As I find ways to get involved and connected, I'll share those stories with you, as well.

So, thank you for joining me, and cheers to new beginnings!  Now, let's go cook something!
