I came up with the name Guest Chef for my new in-home catering business for a few reasons. First of all, there is no denying that nearly every time I'm invited over to someone's house, I end up cooking (or at least helping) in the kitchen. I can't help myself. It's where I feel most comfortable! Secondly, if you hire me to cook for you I will become a guest in your home, which I happen to consider a huge privilege. Thirdly, if I'm invited to cater an event or dinner party at your house, you will invite more guests over to participate in all the fun. So the word "guest" just seems to perfectly describe this new project of mine.
The service I'm most excited about are my "Chef Night" Demo Parties. They are interactive cooking demos offered in the comfort of your own home with your own friends. I'll share various tips and techniques and you and your guests will cook great tasting food together for everyone to enjoy. I promise, your guests will have so much fun they will be talking about it for weeks to come.
We'll start planning your event by discussing menu possibilities that fit your tastes and goals for the evening. For example, one client chose to invite fellow mommy friends and wanted to learn quick and easy weeknight recipes using Asian ingredients. Another client wanted to offer her guests a restaurant quality meal experience without going out to an expensive and crowded hotspot. The options are really endless. Check out these two particular menus here.
While I get to work on the menu planning, you work on the guest list. You can make it a girls night or host couples from the neighborhood, co-workers, family...whomever you think will enjoy learning a few things and cooking a great meal together.
For the event itself, I'll bring the groceries and the recipes. You grab the wine and clean the kitchen. I'll help set up and get the entertaining space ready to set the mood and welcome your guests.

During the event, I'll demo various cooking techniques and get everyone working together on different parts of the meal. Guests can get as hands on as they like and ask any questions that come to mind while we cook. It's relaxed but engaging and provides a really fun way for people to connect and, dare I say, "bond" with one another. Seriously, nothing brings people together like frying coconut shrimp or making a gorgeous seared salmon dish with vegetable quinoa and avocado cream. People get downright giddy!
So whatever your next occasion - birthday party, wedding shower, team-building, girls night or just a fun Saturday night IN, consider inviting me to be your Guest Chef. Honestly, we'll make a great team. Entertaining has never been so easy!
